🥃 Galliano Amaretto
Almond line of Galliano with marzipan, cocoa and vanilla; 28% ABV per Difford's Guide.
Galliano Amaretto is the almond line of the Galliano brand. The producer describes it as a rich, well-balanced liqueur with notes of marzipan and bitter almond. According to Difford's Guide, its strength is 28% ABV, and it tastes like marzipan with a slight carob note. Lucas Bols, the owner of the Galliano brand, produces it.
Production. According to the brand's website, the flavour comes from almonds, cherry (flesh and stones), and distillates of roasted cocoa and Madagascan vanilla; the distillate is aged for several weeks. The producer does not give the full composition. According to Difford's Guide, the almond aroma comes from bitter almond essence and essential oils of geranium, rose and iris; the producer is Maraschi & Quirici.
Why this matters to you. Amaretto is the sweetest and least herbal Galliano line; it does not resemble L'Autentico, and it is more of a dessert liqueur than an aperitif. Compare it with other amaretti and with Galliano Vanilla for strength and sweetness, and check the label. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol is safe.
