🥃 Havana Club Añejo 3 Años

Spirit line ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 5 Updated:

The base expression of Havana Club: a light Cuban rum blended from bases aged at least three years in white oak.

Havana Club Añejo 3 Años is the best-known expression of the Havana Club brand. According to Difford's Guide, it is a light rum made by blending bases aged at least three years in white oak barrels. The same entry lists the strength as 37.5% ABV; the reviewer notes that it was probably 40% before.

According to the production description in Difford's Guide, the rum is made from cane sugar molasses from various regions of Cuba. Fermentation and distillation take place at two distilleries, in two-column continuous stills. The distillate, called aguardiente, is aged in oak barrels that previously held Irish and Scotch whisky. The blend is managed by the Maestros del Ron Cubano.

Why this matters to you. This is the lightest expression in the line, so it is usually compared with Añejo Especial and Añejo 7 Años: the older the base, the richer the taste. The name “3 Años” refers to the minimum age of the bases, not the age of the whole blend. Check the country of production and the strength on the label, since Havana Club has versions for different markets. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe amount of alcohol.
