Diplomático Planas is an aged white rum from the Diplomático brand, part of the Tradition range. It is clear, but not young: the rum is aged first and filtered afterwards. At 47% ABV, it is the strongest of the brand's regular versions. The name comes from the Planas valley, where the distillery is located.
According to Difford's Guide, Planas is a blend of rum from copper pot stills and column stills, aged up to six years. The rum is then filtered through charcoal to remove the colour, but, according to the producer, the depth of flavour is kept. The producer describes aromas of coffee and coconut and a silky texture. Difford's Guide writes that Planas replaced the earlier Diplomático Blanco Reserva.
