🍷 Low-alcohol wine
Wine with little alcohol, naturally light or with some alcohol removed.
Low-alcohol wine is wine with a small amount of alcohol. It usually has 5 to 9 percent alcohol, whereas ordinary wine has about 11 to 14. A well-known example is Moscato d'Asti from Italy: a light, sweet, slightly sparkling wine of around 5 percent.
Such wine comes in two kinds. Some are obtained naturally: fermentation is stopped early, so sugar remains in the wine and little alcohol forms. Others are made in the usual way, and part of the alcohol is then removed by special methods. This is called partially dealcoholised wine.
Low-alcohol wines appeal to those who want less alcohol. They are lighter, often slightly sweet and refreshing. But they still contain alcohol, so one must not drive after such wine, and pregnant women should not drink it.
Low-alcohol wine differs from non-alcoholic wine in that non-alcoholic wine has almost no alcohol. Low-alcohol wines belong among the types of wine and suit a light aperitif or summer relaxation.

⚠️ Wine contains alcohol: adults only, drink in moderation. Wine usually contains sulphites; egg white or milk proteins are sometimes used for fining — important for allergies and for vegans.
