🍇 Malvasia Bianca di Candia
A white grape of central Italy, one of the most widespread Malvasias.
Malvasia Bianca di Candia is a white grape of central Italy and one of the most widespread Malvasias. "Malvasia" is a whole family of varieties, and "di Candia" points to the old name of the island of Crete.
The vine likes warmth and crops generously. The wines are usually light and fresh, with a soft floral aroma and moderate acidity. Most are drunk young, with fish, vegetables and light starters. It is grown in Lazio, where it goes into the white wines of the Roman hills, and in Emilia-Romagna.
Malvasia Bianca di Candia is also used for sparkling wine. It is a typical variety of Italian wine and shows how varied the Malvasias are: dry, sweet or aromatic, differing from region to region.
