🥃 Mount Gay Silver

Mount Gay Silver is the white line of the Mount Gay brand, the one that opens its range. The official page calls it smooth and refined, with notes of citrus, grapefruit, flowers and iris, a balanced body and a sweet, creamy finish. It was created by master blender Trudi Branker.
The rum is made from molasses on Barbados and assembled as a blend. According to the official description, it contains copper pot still distillate that spent two years in ex-American whiskey casks, along with column still distillate that is not aged. Some components are now aged double-distilled spirits, so the line is softer than the previous version. Difford's Guide, in an older description, calls it unaged, so check the current release.
Why this matters to you. Silver is the lightest line of the brand, so it is usually compared with the golden Eclipse (more vanilla and oak) and with Black Barrel or XO, where the ageing is clearly longer. Strength varies between releases, so read the label. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
