🥃 Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey
The first whiskey of the Uncle Nearest brand, released in 2017: a Tennessee whiskey with no age statement, 50% ABV (100 proof).
Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey is the first whiskey of the Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey brand, released in 2017. It is bottled at 100 proof, that is 50% ABV. There is no age statement. The brand's website now calls this release a "legacy era" expression.
According to a review by Thirty One Whiskey, it is a blend of whiskeys aged 8 to 14 years that the brand bought from other Tennessee producers. The mash is at least 51% corn. According to The Whiskey Wash, the grain is grown in Tennessee, the spirit is filtered through maple charcoal, and it is aged in new charred American oak barrels.
Why this matters to you. This is the strongest of the brand's permanent expressions. Compared with Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch, which is 46.5% ABV and has a lighter body, it is more intense. Tennessee whiskey differs from bourbon by its charcoal filtering. WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol.
