🥃 Uncle Nearest Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye whiskey of the Uncle Nearest brand: a mash of 100% rye, spirit of Canadian origin, maturation in the brand's barrels; 100 proof (50% ABV).
Uncle Nearest Straight Rye Whiskey is a rye whiskey from the Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey brand. Unlike the 1856 and 1884 versions, which are based on corn, its mash is made from 100% rye. Its strength is 100 proof, that is 50% ABV. There is no age statement.
According to a review by Drinkhacker (2023), the spirit was brought from Canada; it matured for at least four years in New York and was then moved to Tennessee. There, the whiskey rested in used Uncle Nearest barrels, as the brand's website says. Drinkhacker called it the brand's first widely available rye whiskey.
Why this matters to you. Rye whiskey is usually spicier and drier than corn whiskey, so this is a different taste within the same brand. Compare it with Uncle Nearest 1856, which has the same strength. The separate Uncut/Unfiltered Rye is a different, stronger release. WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol.
