🧀 La Vache qui rit Original
La Vache qui rit Original is the Bel group's classic processed cheese in triangular portions in a round box, made in the Jura since 1921.
La Vache qui rit Original is the classic processed cheese in triangular portions with which the La Vache qui rit brand of the French Bel group began. The brand was created in 1921 by Léon Bel in the Jura, and the original cheese has been made in this region of eastern France ever since. The round box carries the well-known red cow with box-shaped earrings.
According to Bel, it is a "spécialité fromagère fondue", a processed cheese speciality: cheeses are melted with dairy ingredients to give a smooth, easily spreadable paste. Each portion is wrapped in foil with a pull tab. The round boxes come in several sizes, from 8 to 32 portions.
The brand has other ranges as well, including the cooking cream La Vache qui rit À Cuisiner. Original belongs to the processed cheese category.
How to use it: eat a portion as a snack, spread it on bread or crackers, or add it to sandwiches, mashed potatoes, sauces and bakes, where it melts quickly. The individual wrapping makes it easy to take on journeys or in a school lunch box. Store in a cool place or in the fridge.
