🥃 Sheridan's
Irish coffee and cream liqueur in a two-chamber bottle, 15.5% ABV; introduced in 1993-1994; owned by Casa Redondo since 30 January 2026.
Sheridan's is an Irish coffee and cream liqueur in a two-chamber bottle. One side holds a liqueur of coffee and dark chocolate, the other a white vanilla-cream liqueur. According to Difford's Guide, the strength is 15.5% ABV. Until January 2026 the brand belonged to Diageo; since then its owner is the Portuguese company Casa Redondo.
History. Sources give different dates for the first release: Difford's Guide mentions 1993, other publications 1994. The name honors Joe Sheridan, a chef turned bartender who is believed to have created Irish coffee in Foynes. Diageo announced the sale on 8 September 2025 and completed the deal on 30 January 2026. The terms were not disclosed, and a transitional services agreement was arranged for the handover.
The new owner. Casa Redondo is a third-generation family company founded in 1940 by José Carranca Redondo. Its main brand is Licor Beirão, and in 2024 it had already bought the fruit liqueur Safari from Diageo. So older reference works still list Sheridan's as a Diageo brand, and that information is out of date.
How the bottle works. The two chambers are separate, and as you pour, the layers settle in a 2:1 ratio: the vanilla cream stays on top, and the drink looks like an Irish coffee. According to Diageo materials, the brand was sold in more than 50 countries, widely across Europe. The place of production is not named in the reports on the deal; reference works link it to Dublin.
Why this matters to you. This is a liqueur: in the EU the category requires at least 15% ABV and at least 100 g/l of sugar. Low strength does not make a drink safe: it affects reaction time and driving just the same. Check the figure on the label, because different sources give different strengths. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
