Diplomático Selección de Familia is a rum from the Diplomático brand, part of the Tradition range. The producer calls it a blend of family rum reserves, selected after careful tasting. It is bottled at 43% ABV with no age statement. Difford's Guide describes it as drier than a typical Diplomático.
According to Difford's Guide, the rum is aged up to 12 years in American white oak barrels, ex-bourbon barrels and barrels soaked in sherry. Drinkhacker (2024) describes five types of distillate: several column stills, a semi-continuous still, a Barbet column and a copper pot still. The main ageing is in ex-bourbon barrels, and part of the rum comes from ex-sherry barrels. The producer recommends drinking it neat or on ice.
