Herradura Silver is the youngest permanent tequila from the Herradura brand, made from 100% Weber blue agave. Unlike ordinary clear, unaged tequila, according to the producer it spends 45 days in barrels, which gives it light vanilla notes. Strength is 40% ABV, according to Difford's Guide.
According to Difford's Guide, Silver matures in previously used American whiskey barrels. Shared by the whole estate in Amatitán: the agave is steamed in brick ovens for about 26 hours, fermentation runs on wild yeasts rather than commercial ones, and the tequila is distilled twice in pot stills. The color is pale straw; on the palate, roasted agave and oak.
