🥃 Herradura Legend
Herradura añejo tequila made from 100% Weber blue agave: 12–14 months in new, heavily charred, fluted American white oak barrels.
Herradura Legend is an añejo tequila from the Herradura brand, made from 100% Weber blue agave. Its main difference is the barrels: they are heavily charred and grooved inside, so the tequila reaches a larger surface of oak. According to the brand's website, it ages for 12–14 months, and the strength is listed as 40% ABV.
According to TRBusiness, in February 2024 Brown-Forman launched Legend in international duty-free trade and described its ageing as 14 months in new, heavily charred and fluted American white oak barrels. The producer writes that the tequila is distilled twice in small batches. The color is deep amber with bronze; on the palate, oak, caramel, stone fruit and black pepper.
Why this matters to you. Legend and Herradura Añejo are both añejos, but Legend ages for less time in new fluted barrels, while Añejo ages longer in ex-whiskey barrels. So by age Legend is younger, although it stands higher in the range; the top of the range is Herradura Selección Suprema. The WHO reminds: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.

Frequently asked questions
Is it true that Herradura Legend is older than Herradura Añejo?
No. Legend matures for 12–14 months and Añejo for 25; Legend's difference lies in its new fluted barrels, not in its age.
What are the fluted barrels of Herradura Legend?
Heavily charred American white oak barrels with grooves cut into the wood, so the tequila touches a larger surface of oak.
How long is Herradura Legend aged?
12–14 months according to the brand's website; TRBusiness, citing Brown-Forman, writes 14 months.
