🥃 Indri
Indian single malt whisky brand of Piccadily Agro Industries, distilled in the village of Indri in Haryana; six-row barley from Rajasthan; Trini is 46% ABV.
Indri is an Indian single malt whisky brand of Piccadily Agro Industries. It is named after the village of Indri in the state of Haryana, where the distillery stands, not far from the foothills of the Himalayas and the Yamuna river. The whisky is made from six-row barley grown in Rajasthan, and the first versions appeared in the early 2020s.
History. Piccadily Agro Industries has plants in Haryana and Chhattisgarh and also makes rum and vodka. According to available data, the Indri brand was launched in 2021, with wider sales from 2022. The whisky quickly drew attention at international competitions: in 2026 the Agneya version was named Indian single malt whisky of the year at the London Spirits Competition.
How it is made. The core expression, Trini (“three woods”), matures in three types of cask: ex-bourbon, ex-French red wine and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry. According to descriptions, the hot summers and cool winters of Haryana speed up the interaction between spirit and wood, so the whisky is sold without an age statement. It is bottled without chill filtration and without added colour.
Range. Besides Trini at 46% ABV, the Dru and Agneya versions are also known; check each version's cask mix and strength on the label.
Why this matters to you. In a hot climate whisky takes on flavour from the cask faster, but it also evaporates faster, so age means less here than for Scotch whisky. Many Indian whiskies on the market are made from molasses spirit, while Indri is single malt, made only from malted barley. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
