A peninsula with a few dozen vineyards.

Jutland is the peninsula that forms the mainland part of Denmark. It belongs to Danish wine. For a long time growing grapes for wine was forbidden in the country: the ban was lifted only in 1999, at first allowing about 99 hectares.

Since the start of the twenty-first century winemaking has been developing in Denmark: the climate has become warmer, and winemakers choose grapes that resist cold and disease. In Jutland these are above all Solaris and Rondo, and other hybrid varieties. Solaris gives fresh whites with bright fruit notes, and Rondo gives dark reds.

In 2022 the country had 146 vineyards on 173 hectares; most are east of the Great Belt, mainly in North Zealand, and the rest on Bornholm, in Jutland, on Lolland and on Funen. This means there are not many vineyards in Jutland.

The name Dons is known: the 2006 sparkling wine Dons Cuvée won a silver medal in 2007 at an international sparkling wine competition, and after that Danish wine became more noticeable. By 2022 Danish vineyards produced 249 tonnes of grapes.
