🥃 Knockando 21 Year Old
The oldest core expression of the Knockando range: a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky aged 21 years, triple matured in bourbon and sherry casks.
Knockando 21 Year Old is the oldest core expression of the Knockando brand, a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Diageo's official shop says it is selected from the distillery's best stocks. The age on the label is 21 years; the More Drams Less Drama review gives 43 % vol.
Diageo describes a triple maturation: twice in bourbon casks and once in a sherry cask. The review adds that the whisky is chill filtered and contains added colouring. According to Diageo, the nose shows vanilla, oak and red berries; the palate has a creamy texture, forest nut, fresh raspberry and dried fruit; the finish is long, with berries and oak.
Why this matters to you. Compare it with Knockando 18 Year Old: both combine bourbon and sherry casks, but the 21-year-old matured longer and has a denser texture. Do not confuse it with special releases of Knockando, such as the 25-year-old. Available data suggests older expressions may disappear from sale. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol.
