📜 Latricières-Chambertin
A red grand cru on the southern edge of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Latricières-Chambertin is a red grand cru on the southern edge of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. It is one of nine grands crus of the village whose names include the word "Chambertin". The wine is made only from Pinot Noir.
The vineyard is small, about seven hectares. It lies on the slope beside the famous Chambertin, but a little lower down and closer to the forest. The soil is stony, limestone, with good drainage.
Latricières-Chambertin is considered more elegant and slender than its powerful neighbour. It has aromas of red berries, cherry and spice, and fine tannin. It suits ageing: over about ten years the flavour opens up and becomes more complex.
Latricières-Chambertin is a still red wine of the Côte de Nuits. Like all grands crus it ranks above premier cru in the Burgundy classification and is costly because of the small volume.
