🏭 Makarony Polskie
Polish pasta maker from Rzeszów, a joint-stock company since 2004, making extruded and rolled pasta under the Makarony Polskie, Sorenti and Abak brands.
Makarony Polskie is a Polish pasta maker based in Rzeszów. Its pasta plant was set up in the early 1990s within the state enterprise PZZ Rzeszów; in 1998 it passed to Agro-Technika, and in 2002 it became a separate company, Makarony Polskie, a joint-stock company since 2004. In July 2004 it took over the Płock pasta maker Elpast; in April 2007 its shares began trading on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, and in September 2007 Abak of Częstochowa, a maker of rolled pasta, joined the group (it became the Częstochowa plant in 2008). Production sites are in Rzeszów, Częstochowa and Korpele.
According to the company, its pasta is made by extrusion and rolling from durum wheat and common wheat flour, with pasta from spelt, buckwheat and rye flour and vegetable pasta made from legumes such as chickpea, red lentil and green pea. The main pasta brands are Makarony Polskie, Sorenti and Abak; Novelle is also listed among the group's brands. The Makarony Polskie Klasyczne line is egg-free and includes orzo, bow ties (kokardki), świderki, pióra, spaghetti, nitki, łazanki, kolanka and muszelki; egg pasta is a separate line, Jajeczne.
Drying uses TAS technology, which alternates high drying temperatures with stabilisation of the pasta; according to the company, this supports microbiological quality and a longer minimum shelf life.
