🍇 Malvasia Fina
A white Portuguese grape grown in the Douro and Dão.
Malvasia Fina is a white grape from Portugal. It is grown in the Douro Valley and in the Dão region, and in other areas such as Távora-Varosa. It is one of the old varieties of the country.
The grape gives aromatic wines of medium body. They show floral notes, honey, citrus and peach, with moderate acidity. It makes dry white wines and is used in white port, the fortified wine from white grapes. It is often blended with other local grapes, for example Bical.
Malvasia Fina belongs to the big Malvasia family, but is a separate variety with its own features.
Portuguese winemakers value it for its ability to age: over time the wine becomes nutty and fine. Malvasia Fina is part of the rich diversity of Portugal's local grapes.
