Symington Family Estates is a family Port company based in the Douro Valley, with lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. According to the family, Andrew James Symington arrived in Portugal in 1882 at the age of 19 and, after a short time at Graham's, set up a small Port shipping business under his own name; Wikidata dates the company to 1885. The fifth generation of the family now runs it.

According to the family, AJ Symington became a partner in Warre's in 1905 and took a stake in Dow's in 1912; the family became sole owners of both in 1961, bought W. & J. Graham & Co. in 1970 and Cockburn's in 2010. The company lists 27 quintas in the Douro, among them Quinta do Bomfim, Quinta dos Malvedos and Quinta do Vesuvio, and also makes Douro wines.

Port is a wine with a protected designation of origin (PDO) from the Douro Demarcated Region. Grape spirit stops the fermentation, so at least 17.5 g/l of sugar remains; the strength is 19–22% vol. A Vintage Port comes from a single harvest declared exceptional.
