A Port house whose firm, according to the house, was established in 1670 by two English merchants; the first Warre joined in 1729, and it now belongs to the Symington family.

Warre's is a Port house. According to the house, the firm that became Warre's was established in 1670, when two Englishmen, William Burgoyne and John Jackson, opened a general trading company in northern Portugal; Wikidata gives the same year. In 1729 it became Clark, Thornton & Warre with the arrival of William Warre, the first of the family in Portugal.

According to the house, its main wines are Vintage Port, the single-quinta Cavadinha Vintage from Quinta da Cavadinha in the Douro, bottle-matured Late Bottled Vintage, Colheitas, aged Tawnies and the Warrior reserve. Andrew James Symington became a partner in Warre & Co. in 1905; Wikidata names Symington Family Estates as the owner.

According to the house, Warre's is the oldest British port company and has remained a family business for more than 14 generations; it marked its 350th anniversary in 2020. The house's website lists its estates as Quinta da Cavadinha, Quinta do Retiro Antigo and Quinta da Telhada, together with an experimental vineyard.

The range shown by the house includes Vintage, Cavadinha Vintage, bottle-matured LBV, Late Bottled Vintage, Colheitas, Otima, Warrior, Tawny, Ruby and White. The house also announced a limited release, the 2020 Vinhas Velhas Vintage Port, made exclusively from mixed vines that are 80 to 100 years old.

Port is a wine with a protected designation of origin (PDO) from the Douro Demarcated Region. Grape spirit stops the fermentation, so at least 17.5 g/l of sugar remains; the strength is 19–22% vol.

Why it matters to you. Vintage, LBV and Colheita are categories set by the rules, while names such as “Warrior” or “Otima” are the house's own. The WHO reminds: there is no safe level of alcohol.
