🥃 Chopin Rye
Rye line of the Polish Chopin vodka; golden rye from Podlasie; four-column distillation; five filtrations; 40% ABV.
Chopin Rye is the rye vodka of the Chopin brand, the second line alongside the potato one. It is bottled at 40% ABV, and the spirit is not aged in barrels. According to Difford's Guide, the drink is clear, with a scent of white pepper, rye bread and charcoal; the taste is clean, at first slightly sweet, then with spicy black pepper.
The raw material is golden rye grown in Podlasie in Poland. It is mashed under pressure, fermented for three days and distilled in a four-column process. At the bottling plant the spirit is diluted with artesian water and filtered five times. Bottling takes place nearby, in Siedlce. The official page describes the taste as expressive and peppery, with a short, clean finish.
Why this matters to you. The rye line is noticeably spicier than the potato vodka of the same brand, so choose it deliberately for a martini or cocktails rather than by the brand name. Vodka means at least 37.5% ABV; read the raw material on the label and compare with other vodkas too. WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
