🥃 Divin
Moldovan grape brandy; the name is protected as a mark of Moldova.
Divin is a Moldovan brandy made from grapes. The name is legally protected in Moldova. This means only a drink made to the set rules may be called that.
How is it made? First, wine is made from grapes. Then the wine is distilled to get wine spirit. After that the spirit is aged for a long time in oak barrels, where it gains colour and aroma. The ageing time for Divin is from 3 to 25 years and more. The longer the ageing, the softer the taste and the darker the colour.
Divin is a brandy, that is, a strong drink made from grapes. Other brandies of the world stand next to it, for example cognac. Close in meaning is the Moldovan PGI, a mark of protected origin for wine.
Moldova is a country with long wine traditions, and Divin shows another side of them: not wine, but a strong spirit. As with any strong alcohol, it should be drunk in moderation.
