A sunny zone between the Danube and the sea.

The Dobrogea Hills are a wine area in south-eastern Romania, in Northern Dobruja between the lower Danube and the Black Sea. It is a sunny land with a warm, dry summer softened by the sea. The area is part of Romanian wine. The districts of Murfatlar, Sarica-Niculițel and Babadag lie here, along with the wine zones of Adamclisi and Oltina.

Murfatlar is the best-known district, situated near the Danube–Black Sea canal. Growers plant Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Muscat Ottonel and Cabernet Sauvignon. The whites come out fresh and aromatic. Reds from Cabernet Sauvignon can be full and dark.

Dobruja is interesting for its history too: here lies Adamclisi with the Roman monument Tropaeum Traiani. Viticulture in these parts is known from antiquity, when Greeks settled on the sea coast.

Dobruja has three main wine districts: Sarica-Niculițel, Istria-Babadag and Murfatlar. Northern Dobruja is the Romanian part of the historic Dobruja area between the lower Danube and the Black Sea; the southern part belongs to Bulgaria. Murfatlar is a port on the Danube–Black Sea canal with about 9,000 inhabitants. Dobruja is one of Romania's main wine regions, alongside the Transylvanian Plateau, the Moldavian Hills and the Muntenia and Oltenia Hills.
