Gosset is a Champagne house in Épernay, in the Marne department. According to the house, in 1584 Pierre Gosset, a lord and alderman (échevin) of Aÿ and a vine grower, decided to open a wine trading house there. The house stayed in Aÿ until 2009, when it moved to Épernay, to an estate in a listed park with 1.7 km of 19th-century cellars.
According to the house, it has belonged since late 1993 to the Renaud-Cointreau family group and describes itself as family-owned and independent. It names fresh minerality and depth as its style and ages its wines on the lees for a long time. The range includes Grande Réserve, Grand Rosé, Grand Blanc de Blancs, Grand Millésime and the prestige line Celebris.
Champagne is a wine with a protected designation of origin (PDO). The bubbles come only from a second fermentation in the bottle, the wine is aged for at least 15 months before sale (36 for vintage), and all production takes place only within the delimited area. Gosset is a brand; Champagne is the name of a place.
