Granoro Cuore Mio is Granoro's organic dry pasta with added barley. The name means "my heart". The range appeared in 2010 as Cuore Mio Bio and, like the Bio lines, is certified by ICEA.
The ingredients are a blend of durum wheat semolina and barley flour rich in beta-glucans; the site does not give the proportions. According to the maker, 100 g of dry pasta contain about 7.5 g of fibre, more than twice as much as ordinary durum wheat pasta, and about 3 g of barley beta-glucans.
The maker refers to the EU-authorised claim that barley beta-glucans contribute to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels, with a daily intake of about 3 g. The pasta is not a substitute for treatment or a balanced diet.
The range has three formats in 500 g packs: conchiglie rigate no. 105, farfalle no. 198 and fusilli no. 100. It suits people who want more fibre in familiar shapes. Barley and wheat contain gluten, so it is not suitable for people with coeliac disease.
