Old Amsterdam Classic
Old Amsterdam Classic is the original matured Old Amsterdam Gouda from pasteurised cow's milk, with ripening crystals.
Old Amsterdam Classic is the original cheese of the Old Amsterdam brand: a matured Dutch Gouda made from cow's milk.
The maker describes Classic as slightly crumbly, with fine ripening crystals, a full, savoury taste and subtly sweet notes. Ingredients: pasteurised milk, salt, starter culture, rennet, the preservative E251 and carotene colour. 100 g provide about 401 kcal and 33 g of fat.
Old Amsterdam is matured by taste rather than to a fixed age, in cold and warm rooms. Classic is sold in pieces (for example 300 g), slices and snack packs and forms the basis of the brand's gift boxes. Alongside it are the softer Mild and the extra-matured Vintage.
How to use it: serve cubes of Classic on a cheese board with wine or beer, grate it over pasta and vegetables, or bake it into croquettes and burgers. Keep it in the fridge wrapped in film or paper.
