🥃 Senior & Co Curaçao 31% Triple Sec
Colourless core line of Senior & Co: curaçao from dried laraha peel, 31% ABV, bottles of 375 and 750 ml.
Senior & Co Curaçao 31% Triple Sec is the colourless core line of Senior & Co. It is an orange liqueur made from dried laraha peel, the bitter orange from Curaçao, with a strength of 31% ABV (62 proof). The producer sells it in 375 and 750 ml bottles, and Difford’s Guide calls the colourless version the original.
According to the producer, the dried laraha peel, together with spices, is steeped in a bag in a copper still with cane spirit, then distilled; sugar and water are added, it is filtered and bottled by hand. The whole process takes about 17 days. Difford’s Guide gives somewhat different steeping times, so we do not record them. The producer claims that only Senior makes curaçao from laraha peel.
Why this matters to you. The producer suggests this liqueur as a replacement for Triple Sec in cocktails, where orange liqueur may make up to 20% of the ingredients. It is stronger than many liqueurs. Colour does not change the taste: according to Difford’s Guide, the coloured versions of the range have the same flavour and 31%. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
