Shostka Hard Cheeses
Shostka Hard Cheeses are Ukrainskyi Firmovyi, Shostka, Lytsar, Hollandiia and the semi-hard Do Snidanku, sold as pieces, slices and by weight.
Shostka Hard Cheeses is the range of rennet cheeses from the plant in Shostka, Sumy region, owned by the Lactalis group. The cheeses are made from cow's milk.
The range includes Ukrainskyi Firmovyi, Shostka and Lytsar with 50% fat, Hollandiia with 45%, and the semi-hard Do Snidanku ("for breakfast"). Formats: pre-packed pieces (including 160 g), slices for sandwiches, and cheese by weight for cutting in store. They are pressed Dutch-type cheeses close to gouda and edam, with a supple texture and mild creamy taste; in international terms, semi-hard cheeses. According to the owner, the cheesemakers draw on the experience of French and Dutch colleagues.
How to use: slices for sandwiches, pieces for cheese boards, salads and baking with pasta or pizza. Do Snidanku is lower in fat and suits a light breakfast. Keep the cheese in the fridge in a closed pack or paper and take it out 20–30 minutes before serving.
