🥃 Talisker Distillers Edition
An Isle of Skye single malt from Talisker with no age statement: American hogsheads and a finish in sherry casks; 45.8% ABV.
Talisker Distillers Edition is a single malt whisky from the Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye, with no age statement and a strength of 45.8% ABV. Compared with Talisker 10 Year Old, it differs in its second cask: after the main maturation the whisky is finished in casks that once held sherry. According to Difford's Guide, the expression was first released in 1997 in the duty-free market.
The whisky first matures in hogsheads that held American whisky, then it is transferred into butt casks that held Amoroso sherry. Whiskypedia notes that casks which once held fortified wines are used for Distillers Edition and Port Ruighe. The distillery works with moderately peated malt, five stills and water condensers. The owner is Diageo.
Why this matters to you. This is a way to see how sherry changes the smoky, peppery style of Talisker. Check the distillation year on the label, because Distillers Edition is released in batches. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
