📜 Vin de Corse

Appellation ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 1 Updated:

The general appellation for Corsican wines from local Nielluccio, Sciaccarello and Vermentino.

Vin de Corse is the general appellation for the wines of the island of Corsica in France. It is a protected designation of origin (PDO). The island is mountainous with a warm sea climate, and vineyards grow on slopes by the sea and inland.

Local varieties are loved here. Red and rosé wines are made from Nielluccio and Sciaccarello. Nielluccio is related to Sangiovese, but on the island it has a character of its own. Whites are made mainly from Vermentino, which in Corsica gives fresh, fragrant wines with a light bitter note.

Corsican wines come as red, white and rosé, all still. It is a good example of an island that kept its own set of grapes. The wines go well with fish, cheese and Corsican cooking. The name Vin de Corse is used for wines from the whole island, while some districts add their own names.
