🥃 1800 Tequila
Mexican tequila brand made from 100% Blue Weber agave from Tequila, Mexico; named after 1800, its year of origin according to the producer; distributed by Proximo Spirits, part of Becle.
1800 Tequila is a Mexican tequila brand made, according to the producer, from 100% Blue Weber agave harvested in Tequila, Mexico. It is distributed by Proximo Spirits, whose parent company is Becle. The name refers to 1800, which the producer calls the brand's year of origin.
How it is made. According to Proximo Spirits, the agave is cooked for 40 hours in masonry ovens and the spirit is distilled twice. Aged versions mature in American and French oak barrels; the Añejo is aged for at least 12 months. One of the versions, 1800 GuachiMonton, is an añejo finished in casks that previously held an orange tequila liqueur.
Why this matters to you. “Tequila” is a protected appellation of origin: the Mexican declaration was published on 9 December 1974. Under the Mexican standard NOM-006-SCFI-2012, tequila is 35–55% ABV; reposado is aged at least 2 months, añejo at least a year and extra añejo at least 3 years in oak barrels. “100% agave” means no sugars other than those of blue Weber agave were added. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol consumption is safe for health.
