🥃 1800 Añejo
The longest-aged of the core 1800 Tequila expressions: 100% blue agave, more than a year in American and French oak barrels; 38–40% ABV.
1800 Añejo is the longest-aged of the core expressions of the 1800 Tequila brand, spending more than a year in oak barrels. According to the producer, its colour is dark amber. The strength is 40% ABV on the official US website and 38% ABV in Difford's Guide for the 0.7 l bottle.
The producer says the tequila, made from 100% blue Weber agave, is distilled twice in copper stills and aged for more than a year in new American and French oak barrels. Difford's Guide mentions small, re-charred French oak barrels. Under the NOM-006 standard, the añejo class means at least one year in the barrel.
Why it matters to you. The producer describes 1800 Añejo as a tequila for slow tasting without mixing; the taste includes nuts, toffee and peppery spices. If you are interested in an aged tequila without colour, compare it with 1800 Cristalino, and the lighter one with 1800 Reposado. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
