📜 Cabernet d'Anjou
A medium-sweet rosé from Cabernet in the Anjou area.
Cabernet d'Anjou is a French rosé with a protected name (PDO) from the Anjou area of the Loire Valley. It is made from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is off-dry or medium-sweet, with light sweetness and fresh acidity.
After harvest the grapes give juice that is left briefly on the skins. This is enough to give the wine a pink colour but without firm tannins. The aroma recalls strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant. This type of wine is best served chilled, in summer, with light starters, spicy dishes and berry desserts.
Cabernet d'Anjou belongs to Anjou-Saumur and to still rosé wines. Other rosés are made nearby, for example from the Grolleau grape. Cabernet d'Anjou has a richer taste than simple rosés. Strength is usually moderate, around 11–12%. It is a widespread, inexpensive and recognisable rosé style in the Loire.
