🥃 Campari Negroni
A ready-to-drink Negroni from Campari: Campari, sweet red vermouth and dry gin in equal parts, 26% vol.
Campari Negroni is a ready-to-drink cocktail from the Campari brand. It has the same three ingredients as a classic Negroni: Campari, sweet red vermouth and gin. According to Difford's Guide, the parts are equal and the strength is 26% vol. Simply pour it over ice and add a slice of orange.
The producer says the cocktail itself was created in Florence in 1919, and calls the Negroni the best-selling classic cocktail in the world's best bars, citing Drinks International 2024. Difford's Guide dates the bottled version to November 2016 under the name «Ricetta Originale». Just Drinks reports that sales began in Ontario in May 2022.
According to the producer, the taste combines the bitterness of Campari, the fruity sweetness of vermouth and the juniper tang of gin. The aroma has herbs, dark fruits, lemon and coriander, and the colour is crimson. At the 2021 Ultimate Spirits Challenge it scored 94 out of 100 and was named a finalist.
At home, a Negroni follows the recipe of the International Bartenders Association (IBA): 30 ml each of gin, Bitter Campari and sweet red vermouth are poured directly into a chilled old-fashioned glass with ice, stirred gently and garnished with half an orange slice. The ready bottle saves buying each drink separately.
Why it matters to you. This is already a mixed drink of about 26%, far stronger than Campari Soda at 10%. Volume and strength may differ between countries, so check the label. The WHO reminds us that no level of alcohol consumption is safe.
