🥃 Nonino Il Moscato
Single-variety grappa from Nonino's Monovitigno line, made from Muscat grape pomace; no oak, 41% vol.
Nonino Il Moscato is a single-variety grappa from the Nonino brand, from the Monovitigno line: it is made from the pomace of one grape variety, here Muscat. The Nonino family began making single-variety grappas in 1973. The strength is 41% vol., and the grappa is not aged in oak, so it is clear and aromatic.
According to the producer, fresh, soft Muscat pomace is taken from selected growing areas, fermented under vacuum in steel tanks, and distilled right away in small batches in copper pot stills. The grappa then rests for six months to a year in steel. The volume produced depends on each year's harvest.
Why this matters to you. Unlike Nonino Tradizione, which is made from a blend of pomace, here the Muscat grape itself is noticeable: flowers, herbs, green apple. If you are looking for the aroma of cask ageing, compare it with Nonino AnticaCuvée Riserva. The producer suggests serving it at about 12 °C. WHO reminds: there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
