🥃 Olmeca Blanco
Unaged tequila of the core Olmeca line: a mixto of agave and sugar syrup from Los Altos, 38–40% ABV depending on the market.
Olmeca Blanco is an unaged tequila from the core Olmeca line. It is a mixto, meaning the tequila contains sugars other than those from agave. Strength depends on the market: Difford's Guide gives 38% ABV, and the Pernod Ricard page gives 40%. The bottle carries no age statement.
Pernod Ricard lists the ingredients as agave, sugar syrup, yeast and water. The agave is harvested in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, slowly baked in brick ovens and distilled in copper pot stills. According to Difford's Guide, the core Olmeca is made from a separate mixto distillate, while the 100% agave lines use another.
Why this matters to you. Compare it with Olmeca Altos Plata: both are unaged, but Altos is made from 100% blue agave. If the label does not say "100% de agave", what you have is a mixto. Olmeca Reposado is the same core line with a short aging period. WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol.
