Patrón Reposado is an aged line of Patrón tequila at 40% ABV. The word reposado means "rested": such a tequila spends some time in oak after distillation. According to the brand's website, the minimum ageing is four months, and the colour is light amber. It is the lightest of the brand's aged lines, where the wood only gently complements the agave.
The base is the same as Silver: blue Weber agave distilled at Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco. It is then aged in used oak barrels; the brand's website in one place names American, French and Hungarian oak, while its description of the process mentions only American oak, so the barrel mix is worth checking on the label. The taste is described as cooked agave, honey, vanilla and tropical fruit.
Why it matters to you. Reposado sits between the unaged Silver and the longer-aged Añejo: the wood is mild and the agave is still noticeable. NOM-006 requires at least two months for the reposado class; the brand ages for longer. The WHO reminds us: there is no safe level of alcohol.
