🥃 Olmeca Altos Reposado
Aged tequila of the Altos line from Olmeca, made from 100% agave and aged in bourbon casks; on the market since November 2009.
Olmeca Altos Reposado is an aged tequila from the Altos line of the Olmeca brand, made from 100% agave. According to Difford's Guide, it was released in November 2009. Strength depends on the market: Difford's Guide gives 38% ABV, and Pernod Ricard gives 40%. The bottle carries no age statement.
The tequila was created by master Jesús Hernández together with the bartenders Henry Besant and Dre Massó. The agave from Los Altos is baked in brick ovens, and part of it is crushed by a tahona. It is aged in bourbon casks, but the sources differ on the period: Difford's Guide says 8 to 10 months, while Pernod Ricard says at least 12 months in 200-litre casks.
Why this matters to you. Compare it with Olmeca Altos Plata: the recipe is the same, and the oak cask makes the difference. Olmeca Altos Añejo ages even longer. Compared with the core Olmeca Reposado, this version is made from 100% agave. WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol.
