📜 Romanée-Saint-Vivant
A grand cru in Vosne-Romanée next to Romanée-Conti.
Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a red grand cru in the village of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. It neighbours the most famous vineyard of the region, Romanée-Conti. The wine is made only from Pinot Noir.
The name is tied to the Saint-Vivant abbey, which once owned this land. The plot is small, about nine hectares. The slope is gentle, the soil limestone with clay, and fairly deep.
Romanée-Saint-Vivant is famed for tenderness and elegance. It has aromas of red berries, rose and spice, and soft tannin. Among the grands crus of Vosne-Romanée it is considered one of the lightest in style, yet very long on the palate. It is aged for many years.
Like other grands crus, Romanée-Saint-Vivant ranks above premier cru in the Burgundy classification and is very expensive because of its small volume and prestige. It is a still red wine.
