Verrigni Trafilata in Oro

Verrigni Trafilata in Oro is the gold-die line of Antico Pastificio Rosetano in Roseto degli Abruzzi. The company introduced gold-die extrusion in 2007: the dies have inserts of solid gold. According to the maker, the dough of durum wheat semolina and Gran Sasso water passes through gold with less friction than through bronze. The surface comes out porous and holds sauce well, and the pasta releases more starch as it cooks.
The line has eleven shapes. They are made only from durum wheat grown at Azienda Agricola Solagnone, a farm owned by the company's owners. Like the rest of Verrigni pasta, they are dried slowly at 45–50 °C for up to 72 hours.
The shapes include Spaghettoro and Superspaghettoro (spaghetti of different thickness), Linguina Oro (linguine), Fusilloro (fusilli), Il Pacchero d'Oro and Il Mezzo Pacchero d'Oro (paccheri), La Calamarata d'Oro, Il Peperone d'Oro and the square Pi Quadro and Soqquadro. The line is aimed mainly at restaurants but is also sold in the company shop.
