🍷 Wine cocktails
Mixed drinks based on wine, vermouth or sparkling wine.
Wine cocktails are mixed drinks based on wine, vermouth or sparkling wine. They are made by adding soda water, juice, fruit, liqueurs or other alcohol. Such drinks are usually lighter than strong cocktails.
Here are a few well-known examples. A spritz is white wine with soda water, and sometimes with a bitter aperitif. A kir is white wine with blackcurrant liqueur. A Bellini is sparkling wine with peach purée, from Venice. A mimosa is sparkling wine with orange juice. Calimocho is a Spanish drink of red wine and cola. A portonico is port with tonic.
Dry vermouth goes into the martini, which is also a way of mixing wine with other drinks. These cocktails are served chilled, often over ice.
They contain alcohol, even if the shares are diluted. They should be drunk in moderation, especially in the heat. For those who do not drink alcohol, non-alcoholic versions exist.
