📜 Bardolino
Light red and rosé wines from the eastern shore of Lake Garda.
Bardolino is an Italian wine with a protected name (PDO) from the Veneto region. It is made on the eastern shore of Lake Garda. The lake softens the climate, which helps the grapes. The hills around the lake are made of glacial deposits.
The wines are light and pale, with cherry and spice aromas. The main grapes are Corvina and Rondinella, along with other local ones. Red, rosé and sparkling wines are made under this name, still or sparkling depending on the type. Rosé Bardolino is called Chiaretto. It resembles other rosé wine and is made with brief contact between the juice and the skins.
Bardolino is linked to Lake Garda and to the Corvina grape. It is usually served slightly chilled and goes well with light food. Strength is usually modest, around 11–12%. It is one of the best-known wines made near Verona.
