🥃 Casamigos Cristalino
Clear Casamigos Reposado: six months in American white oak, then charcoal filtration; distilled twice, 40% ABV.
Casamigos Cristalino is a clear line from the Casamigos brand, in effect a Reposado whose colour is removed after ageing. The tequila matures for six months in American white oak barrels, then it is filtered through charcoal. It is bottled at 40% ABV. According to the producer, the crisp agave of Blanco is combined with notes from the barrel: oak, vanilla, raisin and fig.
The brand's website says the tequila is distilled twice and made from 100% blue Weber agave. Charcoal filtration removes the golden colour, leaving the spirit crystal clear. The producer does not describe other techniques, and the 40% ABV matches its other lines. This is not a separate category under the standard, but a way of processing a Reposado.
Why this matters to you. Colour does not show age: the clear Cristalino was aged in oak just like the golden Reposado. Compare it with Blanco and Reposado by taste, not by clarity. The WHO reminds us that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.
