Also known as: delivery person

Delivers dairy products to the shopper's home.

A courier is a worker who delivers orders to customers' homes. A courier brings dairy products straight to the buyer's home. This is the last step on milk's journey: from the shop or warehouse to the front door. Orders most often come in through shop apps and websites.

A courier travels by car, van or bicycle, or on foot. They pick up the order, take it to the address and sometimes take payment. Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese and ice cream need a cool bag or a refrigerated van, or the products will warm up quickly.

Time matters. The FDA (the US food safety agency) advises putting perishable food in the fridge within 2 hours, or within one hour when it is hotter than +32 °C. So the courier should not linger on the way, and the buyer should not leave the bag on the table. Home milk delivery has a long history. In the past, milkmen did this job: every morning they brought fresh milk to people's doors. Then almost everyone began buying milk at the shop. And in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for home milk delivery jumped again.
