🍇 Muscat of Alexandria

Muscat of Alexandria is an ancient white grape with a muscat aroma. It comes from the Mediterranean and is known worldwide as one of the oldest varieties. It is used to make wine, dried into raisins and eaten fresh as a table grape.
The variety has large, golden-yellow berries. It likes warmth and a dry climate, so it grows well in Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and many warm countries. In Sicily, on the island of Pantelleria, it is called Zibibbo, and sweet wines are made there from semi-dried grapes. Well-known examples include Muscat of Lemnos on the Greek island of Lemnos, Muscat de Rivesaltes in France, Málaga and Jerez in Spain, and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal.
Many new varieties descend from it. It is a parent of Grillo, Torrontés and others. Wines from Muscat of Alexandria can be dry, sweet or fortified.
The grape is tied to Greek wine and to fortified wines. Its aroma is recognised by notes of flowers, orange and grape. Alcohol is for adults.
