🍷 Condado de Huelva

Type of wine ✔ Checked: 10.2026 · sources: 6 Updated:

Andalusian Sherry-style wine from the province of Huelva.

Condado de Huelva is an Andalusian wine in the style of Sherry from the province of Huelva in south-western Spain. It is a territory neighbouring Jerez, lying closer to the border with Portugal, on the Atlantic coast.

The main grape is the white Zalema. Different styles are made from it. There are fresh young whites, and there are aged ones in the Sherry spirit, called Condado Viejo. They are aged in casks with access to air and take on a nutty, oxidised taste.

Like Sherry, such wines can be fortified. Grape spirit is added, and the strength rises above the ordinary. Wines from Condado de Huelva are less known than Sherry, so they are often more affordable.

The name is linked with Sherry: a shared idea and a shared region, Andalusia. It belongs to Spanish wine and shows that the style of an aged white wine does not belong to one town. It is served cool, with seafood and snacks.
