📜 Delle Venezie
An interregional appellation of north-eastern Italy, mainly for Pinot Grigio wines.
Delle Venezie is an inter-regional designation in north-eastern Italy. It was created mainly for wines from Pinot Grigio. The name is protected as a PDO.
The designation covers several regions: Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino. It appeared in 2017 to unite producers and give a shared name to Italian Pinot Grigio. Wines are made white, rosé, still and sparkling. The main grape is Pinot Grigio, and the rosé versions also use its reddish skin.
The aim of the designation is to protect the name and give the consumer a clear mark of origin. Wines in this category are usually light, dry and fresh, with notes of pear, apple and flowers. They go well with fish, salads and light dishes. For Italian wine, delle Venezie is important as an example of a joint designation that covers several regions at once, not just one. The designation rules define the territories where the grapes may be grown, as well as permitted yields.
