Granoro Dedicato I Birigati
Granoro Dedicato range of double-ridged short dry pasta from Apulian durum wheat semolina: penne, sedani and ditali.
Granoro Dedicato I Birigati is a range of short dry pasta in Granoro's Dedicato series. The name comes from the Italian rigati, "ridged", with the prefix bi-: the maker describes these formats as pasta "with double ridging" (con doppia rigatura). A surface with two sets of grooves is meant to hold sauce better.
The ingredients are the same as across the Dedicato line: semolina from durum wheat 100% grown in Apulia, and water. One format also comes in a wholegrain version made with whole durum wheat semolina.
The range has four items in 500 g packs: ditali rigati no. 59, penne birigate no. 259, wholegrain penne birigate and sedani birigati no. 130. All are tube shapes close to ordinary penne, sedani and ditalini.
This dry durum wheat pasta is meant for dishes where the sauce should stay on the pasta: meat and tomato sauces, baked pasta, and, for the ditali, soups with pulses. Cooking times are given on each pack.
