Mlekpol Kurpiowski
Also known as: Kurpiowski
Mlekpol Kurpiowski is a Swiss-type yellow cow's milk cheese from Mlekpol's plant in Kolno, Poland.
Mlekpol Kurpiowski is a ripened Swiss-type yellow cheese made by the Polish dairy cooperative Mlekpol at its plant in Kolno. The name comes from Kurpie, a historical and ethnographic region in northern Masovia and Podlaskie that includes Kolno.
According to the producer, Kurpiowski is made from the milk of cows grazed in clean regions of Poland and is a rich source of calcium and vitamins. It is sold in large cylinders for cutting by weight and in pre-packed portions.
How to use it: Kurpiowski works as a snack, in slices on bread or cubes on a cheese board, and as an addition to dishes, grated over bakes, pasta and hot sandwiches. Like other Swiss-type cheeses, it melts well.
In style Kurpiowski is close to Emmental. The range is listed under semi-hard cheeses; the same Kolno plant also makes Senator cheeses.
